Alteration of chromatin pattern is one of the most important clues to detect the malignant cell. However, the exact cause of change of chromatin pattern still is not clearly known. Recently, in last 20 yr, modern advanced technologies, such as fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosome painting, green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion technology, fluorescent recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), confocal microscopy, and multicolor four-dimensional imaging of living cell, have unfolded the mystery of the chromatin structure and dynamics.

The intestinal coccidian parasites Cryptosporidium spp. and Cyclospora cayetanensis have emerged as significant human pathogens worldwide. The reports of Cyclospora cayetanensis infection in the Middle East are sporadic and no case has been reported from Kuwait.

A total of 935 patients with extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) diagnosed in the period between January 1985 and December 2000 in Kuwait Cancer Center, serving the whole population of Kuwait, were used to describe the clinicopathological and epidemiological features of extranodal lymphomas in Kuwait. Extranodal lymphomas accounted for 45% of all NHL observed during this time.

Non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) is the most common acute optic neuropathy over the age of 50 years. NAION is commonly associated with systemic vascular risk factors (diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia) and small cup-to-disc-ratio. We have assessed the prevalence risk factors of NAION and the visual outcome in patients referred to a tertiary ophthalmology center in Kuwait.

Optic neuritis has a diagnostic and prognostic significance in predicting the development of multiple sclerosis. Optical coherence tomography is being increasingly used to detect and monitor axonal damage in MS by measuring the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL). However, RNFL can be affected by edema and inflammation and obscure early axonal damage.
