Alteration of chromatin pattern is one of the most important clues to detect the malignant cell. However, the exact cause of change of chromatin pattern still is not clearly known. Recently, in last 20 yr, modern advanced technologies, such as fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosome painting, green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion technology, fluorescent recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), confocal microscopy, and multicolor four-dimensional imaging of living cell, have unfolded the mystery of the chromatin structure and dynamics.

Non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) is the most common acute optic neuropathy over the age of 50 years. NAION is commonly associated with systemic vascular risk factors (diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia) and small cup-to-disc-ratio. We have assessed the prevalence risk factors of NAION and the visual outcome in patients referred to a tertiary ophthalmology center in Kuwait.

Optic neuritis has a diagnostic and prognostic significance in predicting the development of multiple sclerosis. Optical coherence tomography is being increasingly used to detect and monitor axonal damage in MS by measuring the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL). However, RNFL can be affected by edema and inflammation and obscure early axonal damage.

Paracrine signaling in the neurovascular unit (NVU) is aimed to adjust the supply of oxygen and nutrients to metabolic demands of the brain in a feed-forward manner. Cerebral ischemia (CI) severely disrupts this homeostatic mechanism and also causes activation of microglia and resident macrophages in the brain.

The recent emergence of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic affecting millions of individuals has raised great concern throughout the world, and the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) was identified as the causative agent for COVID-19.

COVID-19 is challenging healthcare preparedness, world economies, and livelihoods. The infection and death rates associated with this pandemic are strikingly variable in different countries. To elucidate this discrepancy, we analyzed 2431 early spread SARS-CoV-2 sequences from GISAID.

Chronic ulcerative colitis is a disease of unknown etiology. Its incidence is on the rise in various developing countries as has been reported in studies from South-East Asia and the Middle East. There seems to be significant differences in the pattern and the clinical course of this disease in our patient population. The aim of our study is to assess the incidence and the clinical course of the disease in Kuwait.

The identification of tumor biomarkers provides information on the prognosis and guides the implementation of appropriate treatment in patients with many different cancer types. In non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), targeted treatment plans based on biomarker identification have already been used in the clinic.
