Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is today one of the leading procedures in bariatric surgery, and portomesenteric vein thrombosis (PMVT) has been reported as one of its rare complications. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence, clinical presentation, and outcomes of PMVT in patients undergoing LSG.

This report summarizes our retrospective analysis of 173 colonoscopic examinations performed on 159 children over a period of 9 years in Kuwait. Ninety-six children were males, with a male to female ratio of 1.5:1. The main indications for colonoscopy were rectal bleeding, polyps, and suspected inflammatory bowel disease.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity are prevalent in Kuwait. Vitamin D (VD) deficiency and leptin resistance are risk factors for both disorders. A correlation between the two risk factors has been suggested albeit inconsistently reported. Our objective was to determine the effect and association of VD and leptin levels and their related common variants with T2DM.

This case report describes an uncommon presentation of Behcet's disease which manifested as neuro-Behcet's disease. Although it is not the first reported case in the medical literature, it is a possible differential in a patient presenting with a brain tumor. Since the diagnosis of neuro-Behcet's disease depends largely on the clinical picture and medical history, it should be considered prior to opting for invasive diagnostic methods.
